Overview

One of the most critical aspects of ensuring network security is to have a disciplined, scheduled view of the status of your network assets. An organization's network structure is fluid; employees come and go, servers are modified, workstations are moved, new software installations and program downloads happen almost on a daily basis. Every such addition or change affects your network security. And, on top of this, hackers are discovering new vulnerabilities in your existing systems and software every day. A regular assessment of the status of all these assets is essential.

External Vulnerability Assessments

Pitbull Technologies provides a comprehensive assessment offering that enables organizations to keep a close eye on their network security status. The External Vulnerability Assessment is a scan that is run remotely from Pitbull Technology's Secure Network Operations Center (SNOC). A Pitbull Technologies Security Engineer will scan all of your Internet-facing assets including routers, firewalls, email servers, and web servers. By leveraging data from the latest scripts, and techniques employed by malicious hackers, Pitbull Technology thoroughly and automatically scans each of these assets for all known vulnerabilities and weaknesses. By using an intelligent assessment method that can adapt to custom applications and unique configurations, several publicly unexposed vulnerabilities and weaknesses are also detected. The results are compiled and presented in report format to the client showing the vulnerabilities found, the assets affected, a detailed explanation of each vulnerability, and a detailed description of how to fix them. A Pitbull Technologies Security Engineer will then assist the client to assign an owner for each vulnerability and chart the progress of the remediation process. These reports also provide a detailed history of your network's scanning history for trend analysis. For added flexibility, these assessments can be scheduled by the organization or managed by Pitbull Technologies. These reports will also be available to the client to view from the internet. As this will contain sensitive data, a secure site will be made available only to the client.

Internal Vulnerability Assessments

Similar to the External Assessment, Pitbull Technologies offers an Internal Vulnerability Assessment allowing companies to assess the network health of all of their internal assets including workstations, internal web servers, accounting and email servers and other assets that could pose a security risk. The Internal Assessment is simple to execute. A Reconnaissance Network Appliance (RNA) is installed on the network (2 plugs and you're done), connecting into any available Ethernet port on the LAN. Pitbull Technologies will then execute the assessment at a predetermined time allowing for either client-managed or Pitbull Technologies-managed assessment schedules. Upon completion of the scan, the unit will be returned to Pitbull Technologies and the client will receive a report that details all vulnerabilities found, a detailed description of the vulnerabilities, assets affected, and remediation action that needs to be taken. Again, the client will be assisted by a Pitbull Technologies Security Engineer to assign an owner for each vulnerability and chart the progress of the remediation process.

Regularly Scheduled Assessments

Network security is not a one-time event. You cannot get a one-time snapshot of your network's security posture and expect it to remain secure. Pitbull Technologies recommends a once per month assessment of both external and internal assets. Pitbull Technologies provides cost-effective, highly automated, non-disruptive assessments that impose no additional load on the network and provide all the flexibility organizations need to have low-maintenance, comprehensive assessments of their network security.
